The Radiology Department of the Columbia VA Health Care System located in Columbia SC is recruiting for a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Mammography). The Technologist independently performs Mammography, Diagnostic Radiography, and necessary functions to consistently assist the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Healthcare System through FDA and SCR for Annual Accreditation in Mammography. Overview of the duties for this position include but are not limited to: Accurately operates a wide variety of imaging equipment to obtain examinations of acceptable quality. This includes but not limited to Mammography and General Diagnostic exams, and all other duties assigned. They are responsible for performing and maximizing utilization of all exam rooms. Independently performs Screening/Diagnostic Mammograms, Stereotactic breast biopsies and routine diagnostic radiology exams. Receives patients, explains method of procedure, positions patient, makes exposures necessary and process images for the requested examination. Works with the Chief Technologist of Radiology and Mammographyinterpreting physicians and designated interpreting physicians to ensure quality and determine requirements of non-standard exams. Teassist with the coordination of scheduled and tracks results of mammography exan1s and any procedures for patients performed off-site, ensuring that patients are coordinated in a timely manner; Assist the Medical Physicist with annual mammography facility physics survey and consultations as needed or requested. Properly identifies patient images, by properly identifying patient films, patient identification lists, R & L markers, timelines for any timed examinations, patient position and all other identifying markers for that view/exam. Complies with all safety/fire prevention rules/regulations, using protective equipment when required and provided. Performs other duties as assigned as by management.
