Under the direction of the Chief Technologist/Medical Director of Radiology, the Ultrasound Tech performs all ultrasound examinations as ordered by the patient's attending physician. The Ultrasound Tech develops and prepares film for interpretation, maintains supplies and equipment. The Ultrasound Tech performs other related duties.
Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography Preferred: Associates degree
Must have a good working knowledge of anatomy, understand principles of physics, electricity, and methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined Images
Must be able to set up and operate all types of equipment that will be used in a modern ultrasound department
Must know how to process radiology images in a PACS environment. Should have sufficient knowledge of psychology, patient care, and sterile technique to deal with all types of conditions of patients
Two (2) year experience as a sonographer
Certifications Required: Current ARDMS (Abd, OB & Breast, RVT); American Heart Association BLS
