Director, Medical Staff Services Position Summary
Department administrator. Primary responsibilities is to provide coordinated leadership with departments to serve as primary point of contact. Responsible for the development of strategy and implementation plans designed to effect aggressive expansion, innovative program development and sound operating efficiency for graduate medical education (GME) program. Responsible for operations and fiscal outcomes of the Family Medicine Center and related services provided by Phoenix Baptist Hospital and Arizona Heart Hospital. Works in conjunction with Residency Program Medical Director on matters specific to overall program goals and objectives including residency/felowship and certification/recertification process (ACGME, CLER, etc.) Collaborates with physicians and community agencies in areas of planning/program developments. Plans, develops, organizes, directs and controls operation of the Medical Staff Services Department to accomplish functions and goals of the medical staff, residents and the hospital. Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards and objectives. Directs and supervises workflow of teams. Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability. Ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination and integration of the department services and standards of care into the hospital�s primary function. Position is responsible for oversight of timekeeping, employee evaluations, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and strategic planning. Develops strategy and manages execution through delegation and leadership of supervisors, leads, manager team members and front line staff. Mentors and develops supervisory staff. Also responsible for CME programming, budgeting and maintenance of regulatory requirements (state and/or specialty.)
SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to organize and professionally manage demanding workload. Ability to analyze and interpret ACGME program and CLER requirements. Possess effective professional business written and verbal communication skills. Requires independent problem solving and decision making abilities. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
SUPERVISES: FMC Practice Manager, Residency Coordinator, Vascular Fellowship Coordinator and Medical Staff Services staff.
Qualifications:DIRECTOR MEDICAL STAFF SERVICES CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent minimum experience requirements.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master's degree in Business Administration, Management or related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Five years of progressively responsible leadership and management experience in healthcare/hospital environment in GME, CME and Med Staff Services processes including credentialing, privileging, reappointments, Joint Commission and NCQA requirements.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in ambulatory practice management.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
