Your Role:
Performs ophthalmic work up for new and return patients with minimal guidance.
Performs basic, intermediate, and advanced ophthalmic exam techniques including specialized testing.

The Vanderbilt Eye Institute attracts some of the most talented doctors and researchers in the country. Our subspecialty ophthalmologists have completed a minimum of one year of fellowship training after residency and are board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides basic, intermediate, and advanced ophthalmic workup and specialized testing with no supervision; educates and trains others in the skill sets of workup and testing (basic intermediate, and advanced)
Performs and leads functions that assist faculty, residents and technical staff with daily clinical needs without direction.
Interacts with the patient in a professional manner using AIDET techniques; serves as a role model/leader in patient interactions.
Leads team in maintaining a clean working environment, stocked rooms, equipment, and EOC guidelines.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:
OPHTHALMOLOGY (INTERMEDIATE):- Demonstrates uppermost levels of competency of ophthalmology in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
CUSTOMER SERVICE - (INTERMEDIATE):- Demonstrates a high level of customer sensitivity and has shown insight into customer business issues. Demonstrates a work ethic where customers display confidence and trust in the service provided. Anticipates, plans for and meets increases in customer needs and service levels. OPHTHALMIC DISORDERS (INTERMEDIATE):- Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying knowledge/care of ophthalmic disorders in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results. Consistently delivers ophthalmic disorders services in a creative and imaginative manner while setting a standard for others. Actively participates in outside professional organizations and forums. Contributes in the development of ophthalmic disorders best practices for the organization.
