The Diagnostic Technologist is a health professional with demonstrated skills and competency in all required General Radiographic and Fluoroscopic procedures provided in the hospital. Under general supervision, performs all routine diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures within the scope of the Radiology Department, excluding Special Procedures such as angiography, nephrostomies, PTC, and CT studies.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Effectively communicates pertinent information to patients, physicians and supervisor; Applies AIDET principles; reports unusual occurrences to lead technologist and manager; completes Memsafe reports as needed.
Practices safe patient handling, asks for assistance when needed, assists with transporting patients as needed.
Attends department specific education/training, in-services, staff meetings; signs off on meeting minutes; complies with updates and changes discussed in staff meetings; presents in-services at staff meetings.
Performs exams in a timely manner and is conscientious of patient wait times, consistently meets the needs of the OR; completes ER patients as soon as possible; practices radiation safety at all times; ensures that patients, family members and co-workers are alerted of the upcoming exposure to radiation; complies with the two-identifier policy for patient identification.
Is proficient in all aspects of Radiant RIS and PACS; begins and ends exam correctly; changes or adds orders, proficient in all aspects of x-ray exams; StatRad and after-hours standard work; explains the exam to the patient; documents all pertinent information to the radiologist.
