Provides leadership and oversight of clinical applications and supporting staff. Serves as a primary resource for clinical application, including quality assurance, EMR implementation, and post-implementation support. Manages, evaluates, plans, and organizes all efforts related to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the EMR and clinical applications. Demonstrates expert level knowledge of EMR and clinical applications, capabilities, functions, configuration, end user equipment, workflows, and clinical processes. Supervises efforts to improve and adapt workflows and processes that adhere to the EMR model system and align with current best practice standards. Oversees analysts responsible for supporting clinical applications. Participates in strategic planning and collaborates closely with IT leadership, internal departments, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages and supports departmental application team members in accomplishing all activities necessary to support clinical information system applications.
Provides a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and optimizes the users' experience.
Establishes effective communication across technical and non-technical departments to cultivate strong relationships and empower the user community.
Manages service delivery by guiding incident resolution, problem management, maintenance, and enhancement tickets raised by the end users for assigned applications.
Anticipates potential problems and implements preventive measures before problems occur.
Directs the research of complex, highly technical issues, analyzes alternative solutions or approaches, and recommends most effective course of action.
Ensures that all software modifications/upgrades are working according to the EMR or clinical application specifications and meet regulatory compliance, federal, state, and/or local regulations.
Leads and participates in multiple cross functional projects and implements project planning, communication, and coordination related to project success.
Utilizes a structured problem-solving approach to anticipate the needs for both short term and long-term solutions.
Remains current on industry trends and vendor/EMR/application updates.
Directs the release process for clinical applications which includes effective department wide and end user communication.
Maintains responsibility for clinical applications process documentation, upgrade documentation, and new release documentation.
Conducts and participates in team, project, departmental, and other meetings. Coordinates and reports relevant issues and updates as needed.
Sets and monitors performance expectations, guides development, and conducts performance appraisals for direct reports.
Determines the allocation of resources to achieve timely outcomes and measurable goals within budget; adjusts plans and programs to meet emerging or new programs, while continuing to address major departmental priorities.

Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, or computer related major or suitable work experience.
5 plus years experience in a healthcare setting.
5 plus years experience in information systems or relevant IT field.
3 plus years leadership or direct management experience.
Must complete all required application course work and obtain applicable EMR certification within three months of hire date.
Recent EMR selection and implementation preferred.
Experience in process redesign/workflow analysis, policy and procedure development, training, and testing preferred.
Previous experience in the training, build, and/or support of the EMR system preferred.
Previous experience with the primary healthcare system vendor preferred.
