Performs screening and diagnostic patient mammograms in accordance with physicians’ orders. Assists radiologist with performing breast needle localizations.
Essential Duties:
Prepares patients for mammography examinations, breast needle localizations, and x-rays by obtaining patient history, explaining procedures to be performed, and properly positioning patients for the procedure.
Performs exams in accordance with physicians’ orders.
Delivers mammography and x-ray images to the radiologist in a timely manner.
Assists radiologist with invasive procedures.
Prepares and maintains patient records and files in Epic chart.
Notifies patients, by mail or by phone, of examination results and need for follow-up care. Arranges for additional testing of patients with abnormal mammograms.
Maintains all x-ray equipment and examination rooms; performs quality control tests on mammography machine, and visually inspects reading stations to assure all equipment is functioning properly and initiates corrective action as necessary.
Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies; orders supplies as needed.
Transports patients to/from various departments within the Hospital as needed.
Attends staff meetings and in-service programs.
Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization’s policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Experience
* Minimum of one year of related experience
Education
* Completion of an accredited Radiology Technology program * American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) radiology certification * Completion of an FDA approved mammography training program * American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) mammography certification within one year of completion of FDA mammography program
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of mammography exam procedures and techniques * Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies related to the radiology function including HIPAA confidentiality and JCAHO mandates * Written and computer skills necessary to prepare required documentation * Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, Hospital staff, and external physician offices in the exchange of information. The incumbent is also required to communicate technical information in non-technical terms * Analytical ability to assess patients' condition and determine appropriate radiographic techniques to be utilized * Mental ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands, deal with the emotional needs/concerns of patients, complete multiple mammograms in a timely manner, work on tasks requiring accuracy and attention to detail, and appropriately respond to emergency situations * Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, transfer/lift/ position patients, and properly operate mammogram equipment/ devices * Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job
