The role you’ll contribute:
Under the direction of a Cardiologist or Interventional Radiologist, the CVT II performs a wide range of technical skills, which are utilized during a variety of Cardiovascular or Interventional Radiology procedures.The Technologist is proficient in all aspects of angiography, preparation, assessment, documentation and monitoring consistent with the policies, procedures and processes of the Cardiovascular Services department and Hospital Administration
Will cross-train into other roles in the Cath/IR Lab, except as circulating nurse as needed.
A four-week notice is required for resignation/transfer, as well as any change in employment status resulting in decreased hours worked.
Takes call according to Cath/IR Call and Holiday schedule Policy. Is responsible for finding coverage for shifts scheduled to work and call shifts scheduled.Responds in hospital within 30 minutes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs procedural roles of scrubbing and monitoring the Cath/IR cases based on scope of licensure.
May perform waived and non-waived Point of Care Testing with approved competencies.
Is consistent in obtaining high quality images using digital x-ray equipment.
Transfers images to appropriate storage medium.
Learns physician preferences and routines and meets these in a timely manner.
Is able to gather all supplies and set up a sterile field for each procedure that is performed in the Cath lab/IR Suite.Inspects and documents findings of protective wear according to policy.
Monitors radiation safety for staff, physicians, patients and any observers involved in procedures performed in the Cath lab.
Uses stock judiciously and in a cost-effective manner.
Demonstrates the ability to provide post procedure hemostasis and correctly applies post procedure dressing.
Participates in patient/family educational/supportive needs.
Participates in quality improvement efforts.
He/she will be expected to participate in Performance Improvement projects as needed.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Knowledge of EKG, Coronary and Vascular diagnostic procedures and Interventional Radiology Procedures.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
Knowledge of Advanced levels of EKG interpretation and arrhythmia interpretation
Knowledge of Electrophysiology procedures
Knowledge of Peripheral Intervention procedures
EDUCATION, LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a 2- year Radiology Tech program or 2-year Cardiovascular program
One year of Interventional Cardiovascular lab experience
ARRT or RCIS
BLS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
RCIS certification preferred.
Interventional Radiology Lab Experience
Peripheral Lab Experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
ACLS
RCIS
