The Assistant Director for the Vascular labs works closely with the Director of Non Invasive Cardiology and Vascular labs and Sr. Director of Operations, Acute Care to develop and manage daily operations of the Vascular services and throughput as well as discharge sensitive cases, in a designated area of responsibility within the Acute Care Division at Montefiore Medical Center as well as technical support for outpatient areas. The Assistant Director oversees the technical practice of all Vascular techs in the service line as well as clerical personnel in the vascular lab to ensure that hospital-wide and department policies and procedures are followed with respect to Patient care diagnostic and testing areas, discharge requirements, monitoring, staff performance, performance improvement activities, cultural competence, and compliance with IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission), Joint Commission Standards and state and federal regulatory guidelines for the Vascular testing department. The Assistant Director is responsible for all Revenue Cycle Operations and Supply Chain operations.
The Assistant Director of Vascular labs, is a designee of the Director, Non Invasive Cardiology & Vascular labs, and is independent and autonomous in representing the Department as a member of senior leadership to develop coordinated strategies that facilitate patient throughput and discharge process needs while ensuring that Diagnostic areas - Vascular, adhere to regulatory standards put forth by IAC, Joint Commission, DOH, and any other federal, state or local governing body.
Responsibilities:
Provides oversight with respect to Imaging operations by registered technical staff in all disciplines and other non-registered staff for designated areas of responsibility
Oversees the development, maintenance and implementation of all necessary policies, protocols, and procedures associated with the operations of Vascular Imaging
Daily supervision and management of technical and administrative staff
Assists Senior Director and/or Director developing the Department operations, budget, and staffing plans. Hires, trains, evaluates, and develops all personnel
Interface with providers, insurers, regulators, accreditation agencies, and industry vendors re: technical issues. Identifies discrepancies in daily performance vs. regulatory timetables and standards
Provide cross coverage to other divisions and/or campuses
Collaborates in further development of EPIC, Med streaming and other systems used to facilitate new procedures and other specialty testing
Strengthens affiliations with schools of ultrasound to provide clinical & technical training and to students
Facilitates and promotes the delivery of patient/family-centered care to a diverse customer population
Manages orientation, ongoing education, and professional development for Technical staff, Physician assistants and Fellows
5 or more years’ experience in a technical position including at least 3 years in a hospital setting
Health care management experience preferred
Knowledge of service delivery system in New York, technical Imaging standards, and health care reimbursement preferred
Understanding of performance improvement principles
Basic computer and analytic skills with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
Excellent interpersonal, project Management, communication skills (written and verbal), organizational and time management skills
Effective team building skills
