Summary:

The Ultrasound Tech II performs diagnostic routine and emergent ultrasound examinations. The Ultrasound Tech must be able to effectively operate sonographic equipment and perform general, vascular, and OB/GYN exams and clearly communicate findings to the reading Radiologist. The Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self- motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease and new procedures as they evolve.

Responsibilities:

Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings

Prepares preliminary reports and communicates any critical findings to Radiologist.

Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt sonographic examination as necessary

Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed

Coordinates work schedule with Departmental Manager to assure workload coverage

Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care

Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all departments, physicians and outside facilities.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• HS / Equivalency Diploma
• Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet Sonography requirements for registry by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• ARDMS Breast Credentialed and Trained
• Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) preferred
• Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(s) as appropriate
• Current BLS - Basic Life Support
